Introduction

One question we get asked frequently is "I am carrying most of gear on a belt system and I want to carry a tripod, but I don't want to wear a large backpack just for attaching the tripod. What do I do?"

We have addressed this need with our line of tripod bags.
1) A tripod bag that can be carried via
three modes:
a. in one hand to your side
b. over one shoulder with an optional shoulder strap
c. as a ultra lightweight backpack (a Kinesis first) with a harness*
2) A compact bag specifically designed for a tripod or monopod with a ballhead attached (instead of the bulkier bag for a pan/tilt head)*.
*These two features set these bags apart from others in the industry.

  • Unpadded, constructed of 500 denier Nylon DuPont® Cordura Plus fabric (an unpadded bag is collapsible).
  • Heavy-duty self-healing #10 Self-healing Coil Zipper is used on the T720 & T730 models (the same big zipper is found on the main compartment of a Lowepro Trekker, Kinesis Journeyman or similar backpacks)
  • Water repellant #8 coil zipper used on T620
  • The bags feature a pair of compression straps which stabilizes the load when used as a pack
  • Harness attachment point (same as our long lens cases). A Kinesis shoulder harness like the padded H245 or larger H250, H344 or H717) can be attached to a tripod bag, instantly converting it to a backpack. When used as a pack we recommend the Foam Insert to pad your back against the tripod. In this mode it can used with or without a belt.
  • All bags have a zippered side pocket for extra quick-release plates, cable release or sync cords.
  • These bags are only for NON-spiked feet tripods.

SIZING NOTE: Because of the numerous makes and models of tripods and heads, we don't have an compatibility chart showing every option. Please don't e-mail asking which bag is the best size for your tripod -- instead, simply measure YOUR tripod with the head attached and compare against the our inside dimensions specs below. Thank you.
(With most ball heads, the plate can be turned to the side to shorten the overall height.)

Shown above is a model wearing the T720 attached to a harness and belt. These bags are designed to carry the tripod upside down for a more stable ride. Tripods up to 15 lbs. can be comfortably carried using this system.

[T620] Small Tripod Bag, $46.00

This unpadded bag is for a single tripod or monopod with a ball head or small pan/tilt head attached with a combined length up to 79cm (31"). Because this bag is designed for a ballhead, the shape is the same size from top to bottom and it will NOT accommodate larger conventional pan/tilt head. (Manfrotto 3029 pan/tilt head fits with no room to spare.) The zipper opens down about 1/3 of the length of the bag. This bag is too small for a ball head with a Wimberly Sidekick attached.
2005 improvements (not shown in photo): #8 water repellant zipper.

Will hold the following models:
• Bogen/Manfrotto 3021/3022
• Gitzo Carbon Fiber 1228, 1325 w/ Arca-Swiss B1 or Kirk BH-3 ball heads
• Gitzo 1548 or 2227 Explorer w/ Kirk BH-1 ball head

On the inside of this bag is special umbrella pocket which you can stash your umbrella, protecting it from the tripod or light stands. The rugged #10 zipper (non water repellant) goes the entire length of this bag.
