Guidelines for Harness & Belt Sizes on Backpacks or Long Lens Cases
1. Select a Harness
The shoulder harness comes in two sizes for a custom fit.
The harness is vertically adjustable over a 3-inch (75mm) range on the P017 & P019 packframes.

If you are in between sizes and weigh 80 kg+ (175+ lbs) with a chest size of 112cm (44") or more, then choose the H250. A tall person up to about 190cm (6'3") can wear the smaller H245 harness, however it just won't fit as well as a H250 would--the padded straps won't wrap down in front as far and the sternum strap may catch you in the neck. A smaller person, on the other hand, cannot wear the H250 harness as the straps in front won't cinch down. |

Customers with older harnesses (pre-2000) may require a modifications to work with the current breed of packs.
2. Pick a Belt Weight
(order separately, not included with pack or packframes)
The Journeyman pack can be used with or without a waist belt. The only time we recommend not using a belt is when you are only using the pack traveling in and out of airports and don't want the extra bulk.

Heavy-duty Pack Frame Notes: You may attach a Journeyman pack (remove the harness from the JM pack first to save weight) onto a heavy-duty pack frame to extend your load capacity. It takes up the whole width of the P017 frame, but only about 2/3s of the height, leaving enough room for a sleeping bag, tent & foam pad, thus converting this bag into a “system” pack. The harnesses on the heavy-duty pack frames and Journeyman packs are interchangeable, so you can detach it from the one and reattach to the Journeyman for day hikes. Taller individuals may find the Journeyman pack a little short and the heavy-duty pack frames more comfortable for long trips.
As a general rule, we recommend the narrower and lighter P017 pack frame for backpacking with the Journeyman pack. The P019 was primarily designed to carry a long lens case and a tripod side-by-side. A Journeyman pack will not carry in the center of the P019.
