Heller.

April 2000 (unsolicited e-mail)
Dear
Sir,
We met at this past PhotoExpo East at the
Javits Center in New York City this past
fall. You may recall that I was the
photographer who was also a firefighter,
and I was looking for a handy way to carry
my gear on the fireground.
I
did eventually order some gear from you: a
B-108 Large Back Belt, an E-512 Multi-Lens
Pouch, an E-280 Large Lens Pouch, and a
C-500 Medium Zoom Case to hold my
camera.
I
wanted to write to let you know how
pleased I've been with your product.
Shortly after I received your product, I
took a trip in December to Detroit to
spend a week with the Detroit Fire
Department.
During
that time, I was photographing in what
were probably the most hostile photography
conditions I'll ever encounter: from
freezing cold and ice into hot, steamy
humid post-fire building interiors
saturated with soot; spray from
firefighter's hoses, grit, grime - you
name it. I wanted you to know that for me
and my applications, this was a shakedown
test for your system if there ever was
one, and it came through with flying
colors. I'm still using it on a daily
basis and continue to be very happy with
how it's worked out for me.
I've
attached four photos so that you can see
how I'm using your system with my fire
gear. I welcome your thoughts and
ideas.
Thanks
again -

photographing for the NY State Fire

Kineses gear, which came through with
flying colors. Thanks again!

Although
Bill frequently has an assistant with him,
the belt system allows him to work more
freely and provides him with instant
access to a few essentials. Bill e-mailed
me with the comment "The Kinesis Belt
System allows me to carry almost all the
35mm equipment I need for the kind of
field photography I do,
saving
my shoulders in the process. I don't go
anywhere without it."

Todd
Powell
[Free-lance
Photographer | Frisco
Colorado]

Above
photo shot by Todd Powell at Copper
Mountain.
Both photos copyright 1998 Todd
Powell.
Todd
is one of these lucky guys who gets to
work where most people PAY to PLAY! Last
year, as he was preparing for a shoot, he
told me "I'm going to Sun Valley for a
shoot, I'll be back in about two to three
weeks. See ya." He is a full-time shooter
who specializes in ski action, cycling and
other outdoor sports. He lives in Frisco,
right in the shadow of Breckenridge,
A-Basin and other great Colorado ski
resorts.
I
have featured Todd here because he was
instrumental in developing some of our new
products last year (1998). I sent him
various prototypes of our new C series
cases to try in the field under "real
world" conditions, not with "committee in
a board room" conditions! Todd shoots in
harsh conditions and often tries to get by
with minimal weight as he is either
skiing, hiking or cycling with his
equipment.
Todd used these prototypes to shoot stock
photos and assignment work in Colorado and
Idaho. Even though he shot for several
continuous days and weeks he reported no
fatigue with the chest harness or belt. He
liked some models better than others, but
in the end I didn't get any back at all!
He liked each version for different
reasons, although the QuickClose
buckle, which was incorporated on all
prototypes, was one important feature that
had to stay. The other thing Todd liked
about the Kinesis "C" cases, which was
missing on many other brands, was the size
of the case -- they actually fit his
EOS1-n + booster and his large 2.8 lenses
comfortably (i.e. 17-35/2.8, 28-70/2.8 or
70-200/2.8). The older cases he had been
using were designed for smaller 1970s size
SLRs.
I
finally settled on a design as you can see
by our C500, C570 (Todd's favorite size)
and the C640.
