[P069] Hydration Pack/Pouch, $49.00

  • Wear as a ultralight backpack and/or hydration pack (requires optional harness, not included)
  • Piggy back to a Journeyman backpack for added capacity (Not designed to fit older Journeyman packs, but with some jurry-rigging it can be adapted.)
  • Inside hydration sleeve for water 2 or 3 liter bladder (bladder not included)
  • Breathable three-dimensional spacer fabric on the back
  • Sewn-in hand grab loop
  • Water-repellent zipper (#8 self-repairing nylon coil)

Recommended Accessories

  • Harness to convert to a backpack (H242, H245, H250 or H344 harness not included)

P069 attached to a H344 Y-Harness (recommended harness for this light-weight pack). A F037 is attached to front of harness (utilizing a H150 adapter) for a GPS, cel phone or point-and-shoot camera. Also shown is the hose for an optional Nalgene water bladder which is stowed inside.

  • Y204 or Y205 straps for attaching accessories to the side of the pack.

A Y204 strap can attach a jacket or light fleece layer to the side of the P069. It also works as a compression strap over the middle of the pouch, stabilizing the whole load.

  • Hydration Bladders -- We stock the tough Nalgene models.
  • A waistbelt is recommended but not required. The standard "Black Belt" weight (B107, B108 etc.) is our recommended weight.

P069 attached to a P450 Journeyman™ Modular Pack. The P069 has three pair of double-wide metal sliders for
piggy-backing. (Not designed to fit older Journeyman packs, but with some jurry-rigging it can be adapted.)

The back of the pouch features a three-dimensional, breathable fabric. Several rectangular uniloops are sewn in (like all Kinesis belts) for attaching accessory straps.

During the summer of 2005 I did extensive testing on the P069. This rig includes the P069 pack, B108 belt, H344 harness, F037 pouch (for GPS, attached to the shoulder strap using the H150 adapter), A131 water bottle (one side attached to the P069 & other side attached to the belt, providing an angled and accessible bottle) & A200 pouch. A Y204 strap surrounds the center of the pack and a Y205 strap stabilizes the water bottle pouch.

Above is the "ultrarunner" setup I used for a variety of trips -- 50-mile mountain ultramarathons, 35-mile Grand Canyon crossings & light & fast backcountry ski trips. Normally I would put water in the inside bladder and Cytomax hydration drink in the exterior pouch. GU & energy bars are stowed in the A200 pouch on the belt (easily accessible). Inside the pack is the OG302 Medium Mesh Organizer for small items and the OG121 2-liter bladder.
